“If you are tired of putting up with loose dentures and difficult denture glues, our implant options could mean a life without pain, embarrassment, and poor chewing habits.”
— Dr Burhaan Kassim
Conventional dentures rely on your gums for support and a gum seal to stay in place. Many people have difficulty with these dentures and have to rely on denture adhesives to help to keep them in position and to stop them from moving around. Dental implants provide a firm base for support and firmly attach to your dentures to help stop them from flopping around. Dental implants will allow you to eat and speak better with dentures that stay in place.
Stabilising dentures with dental implants has a number of benefits:
When you visit Dr Kassim at Southside Dental Implants for your first consultation an x-ray will be taken and we will create a model of your teeth to determine the best position for the dental implants. If the x-ray reveals that you don’t have adequate jawbone structure, Dr Kassim can schedule a bone graft or bone augmentation depending on your needs.
After the x-rays and the models of your teeth have been taken, we will then discuss what the best form of treatment and plan to proceed is.

At your initial consultation, one of the team at Southside Dental implants will discuss your options. There are three different implant-supported dentures options:
If you are missing all your teeth a fixed overdenture can be attached using dental implants. Generally, four to eight dental implants are placed, however this will vary from patient to patient. After the dental implants have healed, the overdenture will be fitted an attached to the implants.
A fixed overdenture can be removed by your dentist for maintenance and cleaning.
This treatment is similar to a fixed overdenture with one important exception. After the dental implants have been placed and have healed, a custom-made bar is attached to the implants to support the overdenture.
This bar means that your overdenture clips into place, which allows you to easily remove it for cleaning.
This treatment is also similar to fixed implant-supported dentures. Implant stabilised dentures are when a small number of implants stabilise your denture. You can take your denture out each night to clean it.
