 What is a full arch restoration?

A full arch restoration is the placement of four to six implants (sometimes more are required however this is assessed on a case-by-case basis) and a full arch of prosthetic teeth being fabricated to match your mouth and existing teeth. This treatment does take more planning and the treatment time is longer than single or multiple tooth replacement treatments.

Similar to single tooth replacement, it does take a number of months (between 3 to 6 months) for your jaw to heal around the implants. Once this is done the posts are attached and then, once your gums have healed, the full arch of prosthetic teeth are attached to the dental implants.

The dental implants provide stability and stimulation for your jaw. The full arch of teeth that is fixed to the dental implants cannot be removed, and will look just like natural teeth and will allow you to eat and speak without worrying about dentures coming loose.

Who is a suitable candidate for this treatment?

This treatment is an effective alternative to full dentures and does require a certain amount of jawbone structure for the placement of the dental implants. If you do not have sufficient jawbone density, Dr Kassim will work closely with a specialist surgeon to  perform either a bone graft or bone augmentation depending on your needs. Once you do have adequate jawbone structure the relevant number of implants will be placed (while this is generally four to six it can differ depending on your needs. Some patients do require up to eight.).
